@>From: Stephen Sidler @>Subject: STAR BREAKER writeup **** S T A R B R E A K E R **** If you have a saved game, there will be 3 choices on the bottom left of startup screen: 1 - SELECT a saved game 2 - COPY one game to another slot (one slot must be empty) 3 - DELETE game (there will be a yes/no, to avoid mistake) MENU: Button II for Menu (anywhere except battle): ESP B C D ESP - If your character has PP (magic points), you can use magic B - three choices here: 1 - use items 2 - delete items (don't use this..in Star Breaker vehicle, you can store items, so why delete them. Check item screen every so often so as not to overload it. Shouldn't be a problem though.) 3 - equip characters. Press I to cycle through. You will see value of item (if it is better or not to equip. Saves a lot of time). Side note: what I did was buy everything at a weapon/armor shop. Then I tried them all on all the characters, seeing which ones were better. Reset the game, bought what I needed, equippe and sold off old stuff. C - character status screens. Keep pressing I to cycle through all screens. D - two choices here: 1 - speeds up text (a time saver) 2 - speeds up characters (DEFINTELY do this!) BATTLE MODE: There are 3 choices when engaged in battle: 1 - fight 2 - autobattle (avoid using this, as sometimes a character misses his/her turn. See below for individual attacks). 3 - run (if possible) After choosing #1 (fight), there will be 4 additional options: A B C D A - attack B - this can be a number of choices, depending on the character: ESP - can use magic blank - can't use (no duh!) other - use various forms of higher attacks C - defend D - use item (extra notes: the blonde girl has ESP power. Her first 5 magic abilities are heal, warp out of tower/dungeon/etc., ability to walk over deadly areas, heals certain conditions, and warps to places that you have already visited on the planet (including your spaceship). STAR BREAKER VEHICLE (SBV) OPERATION: In your SBV there are 2 rooms. The left one is where you can store items for later use, and the right one is where you restore full health and save the game. Go into control room, and pass the chair on either side. Touch the top of the room, press I. You will get 2 choices: 1 - Take Off 2 - Abort If you select #1, you will take off. Next are 3 choices: 1 - Landing 2 - will show solar system's planets 3 - will show all solar systems (press I twice) Move directional to wherever you wish to go. IMPORTANT: Keep track of your Attack, Defense, and Shield power for your SBV. You will need to increase some attribute in order to proceed to next solar system, or planet, when engaged in a space battle. In a space battle, you have 2 choices of weapons. If one doesn't work, try the other one. Don't mix them in a fight. If you cannot defeat the attacking starship with either attack mode, then you probably need to increase one of your attributes. Double check at the tool shop. Onward ho...... Note: I finished the game at level 54, 51 hours. I did a lot of searching, wandering, and backtracking. No real problem with the bosses (and there are many!), while I was proceeding at this pace. Don't bother searching bookcases/dressers/cabinets/etc in towns. In almost all areas where you will fight a boss (or bosses), there is a save area near the boss. Makes fighting a whole lot easier. This is probably the best feature of the game. If you have not found a save point, search more. Must do's: Talk to everyone. After a main event takes place, talk to all again. After finishing a solar system, go to each town, on each planet, and talk to all. This sounds worse than it is. Make absolutely sure that before going to another solar system, you have powered up your Star Breaker Vehicle at the tool shop in the spacestation (will refer to as SS from now on). You will get 3 selections at the tool shop: 1 - upgrade items 2 - shield restoration 3 - exit If you can pay for something, DO SO! You will not be able to defeat the enemy spaceship without upgrades and full shield power. You can save your game in your SBV, or at the INN in town, or at various save points scattered about. Castle: You begin here. Speak to all, especially in lower basement. A guard will block your way. Talk to King & Queen, then return to basement. You can now pass guard, and enter Star Breaker Vehicle (referred to as SBV from now on). This is the control room, but can't fly yet. On your way back from here, you will meet another character, and be warped to King & Queen. You now have 3 in your party, and can now exit the castle. There is a treasure chest that looks to be inaccessible in the west side of 2nd floor in castle. Go to room directly above chest, and walk into west wall. A secret passage. Now to 1st town, exiting south. Talk, exit, go south over bridge to 2nd town. Build up some levels here for money/strength. West of 2nd town is odd shaped structure. Work your way to top, making sure you get chests. One of them is heavy duty weapon for one of your characters. At top, will be a control panel Nothing happens, yet. Go north of this to 3rd town. Notice the blocked cave entrance. Later for that. Talk to all in town, especially the girl upstairs. She will run away, so go back to 2nd town and enter the pub, talk to her, and receive item, then return to top of structure to control room. Now you can enter the previously blocked cave. Work your way to structure. There is a save spot. Fight boss and get warped to 1st town. Speak with everyone in town, and castle, and proceed to basement. Now you can fly SBV to new planet. Eventually, you will get a girl to join your party. After saving her, return to town, and try to enter the pub. Go to dock, take the boat to new land. West of town is temple with locked door. Go south and fight boss. Still can't get into NW temple. No problem. Go into SBV and now you can go to another solar system. Here you will fight another space ship. Go to SS and power up your SBV by entering the tool shop. You'll notice that your SBV took some damage. Go to planet closest to SS - the southeast one. Go to all 3 towns. You can't enter the temple (you need an ID#). Go to tower SW of SBV. Get item and give to man blocking south entrance in town. Enter cave and beat boss and return to town north of temple to get ID#. Enter temple, fight boss. Go to bottom planet on viewing screen. In cave, wizard will not let you enter doors. Much later for this, but remember it. Go back to SS and talk to guy in upper right room. Also, buy that power up for 9000 in tool shop. Go to west planet and enter the tree immediately SE. Then proceed to next own (nudie scene!). Head to shrine in NW, then town south of the second town you were in. Then castle. At castle, fight boss, get key to enter lab in SE of continent. Fight boss. Cinema saving winged girl. Now you are warped to tree town. Talk to girl you saved and get key for temple. Open locked door and see a destroyed SBV. Go to lower basement to get item. Go back to SS. Talk to person in upper right room. Now go to omnious temple in 1st solar system (that you couldn't enter). On top you get item. It is "stolen" by the wizard. No problem as this happens often during your game. Return to second solar system's SS. Go to tool shop. Select the 2nd entry and pay 550 to up shield. Go to next solar system (fiery red). You will enter an all female castle. Make sure you enter a room immediately south of the entrance with the two guards. Just keep walkin down, and there will be a lone woman. Don't know significance, but do it anyway. Get access to a cave. In the town, there is another nudie scene (west of cave exit). Head north to lab structure. Kill boss and return to cave people. Now you can pass the guy previously blocking the way. Exit cave, and there is a boat. Get on it and enter tower, fight boss. Enter and save girl, and get warped back to all female castle. You still cannot enter the structure with the running waterfall. So go south from cave (where boat is docked), to new town. In main building basement there is an empty room. Go through east wall to secret passage to chest. Proceed to cave. Here you will use the previously obtained key to to cross over water (bridge gets formed). Beat creature and return to the last town. Talk to guy in main building for dancing cinema. A new guy enters your party. Go back to SS and talk to guy in upper right room. Head to next solar system. Go to tool shop and upgrade for 25,000 (defense) and maxout shield power. Go to 1st planet. Here you lose your guard. Head to middle planet. From 1st town go to mountain range to the west. You cannot enter structure in SW yet. Beat boss and get new character. Go to town, upgrade weapons and head to SW palace previously locked. Fight boss, return to town, then return to 1st planet in this solar system. Talk to your lost character and kid by the machine. Head to outer planet and cinema takes place. You lose your newest guy, replaced by girl and get warped back to SS. Cannot enter this area yet. Go back to planet where you lost guy (1st planet in solar system). Nudie cinema, and upgrade your SBV power by guy next to your old character. Go to new solar system and upgrade at tool shop. Be sure to talk to everyone here, especially guy in spacehut. Go to planet. Proceed west to structure over 2 bridges. Speak to 3 dudes. Here a cinema takes place - a fight - and you return to only town on planet. Cinema, go to new planet that appears in this solar system. Continue to tower, fight boss. Yea, that wizard dude does it again. Return to SS and you can now enter upper right door. Go to new solar system. Speak to king, and pick up key to cave. Go to town, then castle, then cave. Fight boss, go back to town, and now you can enter fire blockage. Cross bridge and on to next town. Go to structure and eliminate fire blockage. Fight boss and now cave to east is ok to go. Fight boss, cinema, warp back to 5th solar system. After cinema, go to 6th solar system. Head to new planet. Go to west town then NE to cave (can't enter - blocked structure). Go back to 1st planet in this solar system to pub. Go downstairs to girl on stage. She now tags along (can't access her on menu screen). Return to last planet. Talk to woman in east house. Go to ice cave. Fight boss, go to SS, and talk to woman behind counter. Check tool shop to make sure you are at max. Go to new solar system and upgrade SBV at tool shop. It's expensive, but you should have plenty of money by now (I had over 200,000, with some weapons/armor/shields in storage for backup cash). Head to closest planet, town 1st, then castle in south, then back to SS, back to 1st town, then castle, then west to structure, then to tower in center of area. Fight boss, continue, then loooong cinema of space vehicles. On to 2nd planet. Only one town, then to cave, fight boss, get flower and return to town and heal sick girl. Now to house with the 3 females. You gain one of them, and lost the blonde girl and the tag along girl. Now head to basement of center house and step on warp circles. You seem to be in a parallel planet. Go to town, then castle. After defeating boss, you are warped back to town. You get blonde girl back. I could not figure out how to get the 2 treasure chests in the NW house in this town. Next solar system. Go to nearest planet and head to castle, then SE to town, then NE to mountain. Fight boss. Stop off at castle and go to stairway previously blocked by guard. Go to SW tower. Fight boss, return to king in castle. Go to next planet, but can't get into tower, so return to 2nd solar system to planet with the cave blocked by the wizard (remember this?). Cinema, and go to SS in 8th solar system. Talk to guy in upper right room. Go to 2nd planet in this solar system and tower is now accessible. Finish here, and go back to castle to speak with dragon king. Then you will see another planet has appeared in this solar system. Go to the 3rd "planet" (the weird looking one). It is a SS. Go to pub, then new planet. Head to 1st town, then loooong walk to next town, then tower. Another new planet has appeared. Head there. After shrine cinema, you end up in SS. Go to new solar system. Fight a few bosses here in this alien spacestation. Go to red planet. The final journey: Stock up now on any items you can. Spend all your money on HP restorers, PP restorers, and other goodies. You may have to backtrack to other planets to get them, but load up now. After town, head to shrine. There are going to be MANY bosses here! Luckily, there are save points all over. After the final save, you will enter an area with a boss on a platform, and another one right behind. Fight the 1st one. You cannot leave area to save, so fight the second boss. Cinema, then the final Kahuna! Short, but nice closing cinema. Steve (long live RayForce!)
